As Charlotte’s Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian and United Methodist young adult and campus ministry we strive to inspire young adults to make a world of difference by being a Christ centered, radically missional, and loving campus ministry.
Some of us are new and just beginning the journey; some of us have been on the path for a good long time and most of us are somewhere along the way. At Niner United and Uptown United, you will be loved and encouraged wherever you are!
Our Core Values
- Centered in Christ. Being centered in Christ is more than a cliche. Many churches make the mistake of defining their faith by boundaries. You can’t do this or that. They define who a Christian is and who isn’t. They set-up their own standards and judgements and live hugging the fence. However the church’s identity is never measured by the boundaries but by its center. For us, Christ is the center.
- Radically Missional. We are passionate about helping young adults realize their God-given gifts so you may live out your call. Sadly most campus ministries target you as an object of mission. You see the pamphlets in the restrooms and the bullhorn preachers. However, we understand the scripture to be clear in that you are not an object of mission but rather a participant in God’s mission.
- Loving. The Bible continually repeats an ancient hymn that thanks the “God of compassion and mercy” who is “very patient and full of faithful love” (Psalm 86.15). 1 John 4:16 tells us that God is love and whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. The apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13 tells us this God of love is always patient and kind. Jesus in Matthew 22 gave us the greatest commandment to Love God with all our passion, mind, and strength and to love others as we love ourselves. So, we are a campus ministry that strives to be loving – not judging; loving – not hateful; loving – not irritant.
